Joining the volunteer firefighting community
It’s a Lifestyle, Not Just a Hobby: Becoming a volunteer firefighter means embracing a way of life that will touch your day-to-day routine and your family’s life. Unlike most volunteer roles, it involves unpredictable hours and serious responsibilities. Erratic schedules, missed family events, and concern for your loved one’s safety may become part of everyday life. Before joining, have an honest talk with your family about these realities. Their understanding and support are crucial from the start.
