Commissioner of Oaths Services

The Township of North Stormont provides Commissioner of Oaths services for documents that require an oath, affirmation, or declaration to be administered and witnessed.

A Commissioner of Oaths may witness your signature and verify that you are swearing or affirming that the contents of a document are true. Documents must not be signed in advance and must be signed in the presence of the Commissioner.

Individuals requiring this service must schedule an appointment and attend Town Hall in person during regular business hours. Please bring valid government-issued photo identification. The fee for this service is $10.00 per document.

Common documents we can witness include:

  • Vehicle transfers
  • Insurance claim forms
  • Foreign pension or life pension statements
  • Consent letters for children travelling out of the country
  • Immunization exemptions

Please note that Township staff reserve the right to refuse commissioning services for any document if it is deemed inappropriate, incomplete, or outside the scope of a Commissioner of Oaths' authority.

Important: The Township does not provide Notary Public services. Documents requiring notarization must be taken to a licensed lawyer or Notary Public.
