Newcomer Employment Welcome Services

NEWS is a vital resource for immigrants and refugees settling in the region. Operated by the Eastern Ontario Training Board, NEWS offers a comprehensive suite of free, bilingual services to support newcomers in their employment and settlement journey.  

Services include employment readiness programs, job search assistance, resume writing workshops, language training, cultural orientation, and workplace integration support. NEWS collaborates with local employers and community partners to facilitate networking, mentorship, and job placement opportunities, ensuring that newcomers are well-equipped to thrive in their new community. Whether you're seeking employment, language support, or guidance on settling into the area, NEWS is there to help you every step of the way.

A comprehensive new resource designed to support newcomers in eastern Ontario is now available. Brought to you by the Eastern Ontario Local Immigration Partnership (EOLIP), The Newcomer Information Package, a detailed 63-page guide, has been developed to help newcomer individuals and families successfully integrate into the communities of Cornwall and the surrounding counties of Stormont, Dundas, Glengarry (SDG), and Prescott-Russell (PR). This all-in-one package serves as a practical and accessible tool for newcomers, as well as the service providers and community partners who support them. It off ers clear, relevant information to help navigate essential services and build a strong foundation for life in the region. The guide covers a wide range of key topics, including:
