By-Law Enforcement Department
The Township of North Stormont's By-Law Enforcement Department helps protect the health, safety, and quality of life of residents by ensuring compliance with municipal by-laws. The department is responsible for investigating complaints, educating residents about by-law requirements, and taking appropriate enforcement action when violations occur.
Municipal By-Law Enforcement Officers (MLEO's) are authorized to enforce a wide range of municipal by-laws and may issue warnings, orders to comply, or fines when individuals or property owners are found to be in contravention of a by-law. Common areas of enforcement include property standards, animal control, noise and nuisance concerns, waste management, and other matters that affect community well-being.
The Township has adopted numerous by-laws to address local concerns and maintain safe, attractive, and respectful neighbourhoods. Residents are encouraged to familiarize themselves with applicable by-laws and contact the Township with questions or to report potential violations.
Through proactive education, complaint investigation, and fair enforcement, the By-Law Enforcement Department supports a safe, healthy, and vibrant community for all residents of North Stormont.

Animal Control By-Law
The Township of North Stormont's Animal Control By-Law promotes responsible pet ownership and helps protect the safety and well-being of residents and animals. The by-law establishes regulations for the care and control of animals within the municipality, including requirements related to licensing, animal confinement, noise, nuisance behaviours, and owner responsibilities.
Animal owners are responsible for ensuring their pets do not pose a threat to public safety, create disturbances, or cause damage to property. The by-law also provides measures to address issues such as animals running at large, excessive barking, and the humane treatment of animals.
Residents are encouraged to review the by-law to better understand their responsibilities and help maintain a safe, respectful, and pet-friendly community. Please note that dog tags are no longer required within the Township of North Stormont, but we do encourage responsible pet owners to microchip or have an identifying tag on their dogs at all times.

Clean Yards By-Law
The Township of North Stormont's Clean Yards By-Law helps maintain safe, healthy, and attractive properties throughout the municipality. The by-law establishes minimum standards for property maintenance and regulates the accumulation of waste, debris, discarded materials, overgrown vegetation, and other conditions that may create health, safety, or nuisance concerns.
Property owners and occupants are responsible for keeping their lands clean and free from conditions that may negatively impact neighbouring properties or the community. The by-law provides the Township with the authority to investigate complaints and require corrective action when properties do not meet established standards.

Parking By-Law
The Township of North Stormont's Parking By-Law regulates the parking, stopping, and standing of vehicles on municipal roads and properties to help ensure public safety, maintain traffic flow, and support effective road maintenance operations. The by-law establishes where and when vehicles may be parked and includes provisions related to prohibited parking areas, time-restricted parking, fire routes, accessible parking spaces, and seasonal winter parking restrictions.
Vehicle owners and operators are responsible for complying with all parking regulations. Vehicles parked in violation of the by-law may be subject to fines, ticketing, or towing where permitted.
