NORTH STORMONT, ON – The Township of North Stormont is pleased to recognize Canobi AgriTech, a North Stormont-based company, for its inclusion in the prospectus for the inaugural Canada Investment Summit, held in Toronto from September 14 to 15, 2026.
Hosted by Prime Minister Mark Carney, the summit brought together Canadian and international investors, industry leaders, and government representatives to showcase investment-ready projects and innovative businesses with the potential to drive economic growth and strengthen Canada's long-term competitiveness.
Canobi AgriTech was featured for its proposed Canobi Distributed Food Resilience Network, a Canadian-controlled environment agriculture platform intended to improve food security for remote, northern, Indigenous, and defence communities. The initiative would combine modular food production, processing, storage, and monitoring systems into a connected national network designed to strengthen food resilience and improve supply chain reliability across underserved regions.
The project is currently in the concept and early feasibility stage. According to the summit prospectus, Canobi's core technologies, including Canobi.ONE and Drop-n-Grow, have already been commercially deployed. Work is underway on defence-specific applications, consortium formation, and site selection as the project advances toward future development opportunities.
The proposed investment represents a significant undertaking, with an estimated capital expenditure of approximately US$180 million to US$220 million. The project is seeking strategic equity investment, project financing, industrial and technology partnerships, joint ventures, and international partners to support its implementation and growth.
Canobi AgriTech is one of many agrifood-related businesses contributing to Eastern Ontario's economy through innovation, job creation, and advancements in food production technologies. The company's inclusion in the Canada Investment Summit prospectus highlights the growing role that rural communities and local businesses play in addressing national challenges related to food security, supply chain resilience, and sustainable economic development.
