Community members,
Thank you for this opportunity to address you directly on a matter of great importance to our residents – access to water.
As you know, dry weather conditions have persisted all summer, and into the early part of autumn. Unfortunately, many in our township have had to deal with serious conditions, like dry wells. While recent rainfall may have eased the burden for some, our Township will provide showering facilities and access for small container water fill-ups at the North Stormont Arena in Finch until further notice.

Although private well maintenance is not a municipal responsibility, we recognize the seriousness of this situation. With winter fast approaching - and the likelihood that many wells may not recover before freezing conditions set in - we are working with our municipal administration, South Nation Conservation Authority, the Raisin Region Conservation Authority, and the Eastern Ontario Health Unit to explore ways to support residents during this difficult time.
To better understand the scope of the issue, we ask residents experiencing dry wells or reduced water capacity to complete a short survey. Both of our local conservation authorities have created surveys. Please choose the survey that corresponds with your address. Your input will help us identify the areas most affected and determine what support measures may be needed.
The map above shows the jurisdictions for each conservation authority, to help you understand which survey to complete.
