Highway 138 Design Study and Environmental Assessment Officially Underway
NORTH STORMONT, ON – The Township of North Stormont is pleased to announce that the official design study and environmental assessment process for improvements to Highway 138 is now underway.
This milestone marks an important step forward for a project that has long been identified as a priority by local residents and municipal leaders. Community feedback and advocacy over many years have played a significant role in advancing the project to this stage.
The Township is encouraged to see the Ministry of Transportation's initial focus on the intersections at McNeil/Dyer Road and Norman Drive. At the same time, North Stormont will continue to advocate for additional safety and operational improvements along the northern section of Highway 138 between County Road 43 and Highway 417, including the intersections at McLean Road and Lafleche Road.
Mayor and Council remain committed to working collaboratively with local MPP Nolan Quinn and the Ministry of Transportation to ensure local priorities and concerns are reflected throughout the planning process. Township representatives are also looking forward to meeting with Ministry officials during the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) Conference later this month to discuss the project and the community's transportation needs.
The Township encourages residents, businesses, and stakeholders to participate in the study process by providing feedback directly to the Ministry of Transportation. Information about the project and opportunities for public input are available at:
