NORTH STORMONT, ON – The Township of North Stormont is proud to have participated in the United Way Centraide SDG Period Promise Campaign by serving as a collection point for donations of menstrual products destined for local food banks and women’s shelters.
Period poverty continues to affect millions of people worldwide, creating barriers to health, dignity, and participation in everyday life. As rising food insecurity and cost-of-living challenges continue to impact local communities, charitable organizations and food banks are experiencing increased demand for essential personal care products.
“Supporting initiatives like the Period Promise Campaign is one way we can help address important community needs and assist organizations working directly with vulnerable residents,” said Township CAO Chad Brownlee. “We are proud to work alongside community partners to raise awareness and encourage support for those facing these challenges.”
According to United Way representative Olivia Leroux, demand is growing not only for menstrual products, but also for adult incontinence supplies, baby diapers, and infant formula.
The Township encourages residents who are able to consider supporting local food banks, charitable organizations, or the United Way through monetary donations or product contributions.
Donations can be made directly to the United Way SDG office located at 55 Water Street in Cornwall through cash donations or donations of essential products.
The Township of North Stormont extends its appreciation to residents, staff, and community partners who continue to support initiatives that strengthen and support local communities.
