BERWICK, Ontario - Residents of North Stormont will have a unique opportunity to take charge of their health this month when Melanoma Canada’s Mole Mobile makes a stop in Berwick.
The mobile skin clinic will be set up at the North Stormont Township office on Sunday, Sept. 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. No appointment is needed, and screenings are free. Certified Canadian dermatologists, including Dr. Thusanth Thuraisingam and Dr. Anna Williams, will be on-hand to check suspicious moles and provide advice on next steps if needed.
The Mole Mobile, presented nationally by Neutrogena, is travelling across Canada to tackle rising rates of skin cancer. One in three cancers diagnosed is a form of skin cancer, making it the most common cancer in the country. Early detection is critical—when caught early, most skin cancers can be treated successfully.
Last year, screenings at Mole Mobile stops identified more than 100 potential melanomas and hundreds of other suspicious cases that required follow-up care. Organizers say this proves the importance of bringing dermatologists directly into communities, particularly in rural areas where wait times for appointments are often long.
Supported by the Canadian Dermatology Association, the 2025 tour will visit communities across Ontario, Quebec, Alberta, and British Columbia, with the goal of breaking down barriers to early detection and educating Canadians about prevention.
