MOOSE CREEK, ON — A story of local resilience came full circle today as A Touch of Health celebrated its official grand re-opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The event marks a triumphant return for the business following a devastating fire just eight months ago.
The ceremony was attended by North Stormont Mayor Francois Landry, Deputy Mayor Steve Densham, and Moose Creek Chamber of Commerce representative Ginette Quesnel, alongside local residents who gathered to show their support.
"I am incredibly touched by the support shown by the entire community," said Robyn Ledoux, Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) and owner of A Touch of Health. "People really rallied around us when we needed it most."
Ledoux expressed deep gratitude for her family, crediting her sister and brother-in-law with stabilizing her business during the transition. Following the fire, A Touch of Health was able to continue serving clients by operating temporarily out of the Delhey Electric building.
A Journey of Growth and Resilience
Ledoux’s business journey in North Stormont spans nearly two decades:
17 Years Ago: Started her registered massage therapy practice out of her home.
5 Years Ago: Purchased the former elementary school at 17071 McLean Road in Moose Creek.
The Vision: Transformed the property into three distinct commercial spaces to foster local economic growth.
Today, the revitalized 17071 McLean Road property is transforming into a vibrant community hub. In addition to Ledoux’s massage clinic, the building is home to "The Black Owl Bistro," a new restaurant that successfully opened its doors to the public last Friday. A third, 900-square-foot commercial space remains available for lease, offering an exciting opportunity for another entrepreneur to join the bustling location.
Investing in the Future
The grand re-opening comes on the heels of further good news for the property. Ledoux was recently named a recipient of both the North Stormont Community Improvement Grant and the SDG Counties Regional Incentives Program Grant.
These grant funds are earmarked for structural and aesthetic improvements to the building, entirely separate from the post-fire restoration work, ensuring the former elementary school remains a cornerstone of the Moose Creek business community for years to come.
Township leadership extended their warmest congratulations to Ledoux on her reopening and applauded her unwavering commitment to the economic vitality of North Stormont.
