Council Highlights – September 22, 2026
Township of North Stormont | News Release
Township Council held its regular meeting on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at the Township Council Chambers. The agenda focused on infrastructure planning, municipal governance, and a number of municipal and intergovernmental matters.
💧 Water & Wastewater Infrastructure
Council considered plans to update the Water and Wastewater Master Plan for Crysler, Finch and Moose Creek.
The agenda proposed:
• Proceeding with CIMA+ as a single-source provider for technical support related to the Master Plan update, with an upset limit of $150,000.
• Reallocating $150,000 from the 2026 Water Capital Budget to fund the update.
The Master Plan update is intended to support future infrastructure planning and funding applications for water and wastewater projects.
🏛️ Municipal Accountability & Code of Conduct
Council also reviewed proposed regulations under Ontario's Municipal Accountability Act, 2026.
The discussion focused on potential changes to:
• A standardized municipal Code of Conduct;
• Processes followed by municipal Integrity Commissioners; and
• Education and training requirements for Integrity Commissioners and members of Council.
The new, provincial legislation is expected to come into effect on November 15, 2026, replacing the Township's existing Code of Conduct framework.
🤝 Intergovernmental & Municipal Issues
Council received correspondence addressing a number of issues affecting municipalities across Ontario, including:
• Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF) funding;
• Traffic calming and speeding mitigation;
• The OPP municipal policing cost model;
• The role of the Ontario Land Tribunal in municipal planning decisions;
• Public library funding; and
• Proposed changes involving Conservation Authorities.
🌿 Conservation Authority Updates
Council received updates from the Raisin Region Conservation Authority and South Nation Conservation, including recent board meeting information.

The next The Fire Services Committee is scheduled to meet on Thursday, September 24, 2026 the next North Stormont Council is scheduled for Tuesday, October 13, 2026.
