Treasury/Tax DepartmentThe Treasury/Tax Department prepares and monitors annual budgets and updates capital budgets of the Municipality. This Department also ensures that internal controls are followed and is responsible for the collection of accounts receivable and the prompt payment of billings. Taxes are billed and collected on behalf of the various school boards and the United Counties of S.D.&G., as well as the Township of North Stormont, based on current value assessments provided by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation. This Department processes applications for adjustment of assessments under Section 357 and 358 of the Municipal Act, Requests for Reconsideration to MPAC, Notices of Complaints to the Assessment Review Board, and rebates for vacancies in commercial and industrial buildings. Water bills for three villages on Municipal Water and Sewer Systems are also invoiced and collected. The Treasury Department is also responsible for human resources and benefits for Township employees.
