The Public Works Department, under the supervision of the Public Works Superintendent, is responsible for the maintenance, repairs, reconstruction and signage of 348 kilometres of Township roads and hundreds of bridges and culverts, including 42 major structures. This Department prepares and monitors the roads' budget, advises Council and enforces its policies and procedures, and answers and responds to roads' related complaints and queries of the public. Entrance permits along Township roads are issued by the Public Works Superintendent and the 911/Civic Addressing System is maintained and updated by this Department in conjunction with administration staff. Road and equipment tenders and contracts are prepared and administered by this Department, as is the maintenance of Township road vehicles and equipment. Hired equipment and operators are supervised by the Public Works Superintendent and routine, year-round patrols are conducted by him in accordance with the Provincial Minimum Maintenance Standards. Winter maintenance, including plowing, salting and scarifying of Township roads is conducted by this Department.
