General Information

This Department is responsible for issuing permits and conducting related inspections in compliance with the Ontario Building Code Act, reviewing planning amendment applications and severance applications and advising thereon, and co-ordinating complaints under the Property Standards By-law and other by-laws of the Municipality with the Township's By-law Enforcement Officers.

If you're planning to build, renovate, repair, install a pool, sever a lot, rezone your property, etc., please contact the Township Office to make an appointment to discuss the necessary requirements and obtain the applicable forms and/or permits.

If you are starting renovations, demolitions, or construction of a new building, it is imperative that a building permit be taken out. You may pick up a copy of the application form at the Municipal Office. Two complete sets of plans, side yard and set back information will be required.

Municipal Building Requirements

How To Obtain A Building Permit

A) When you apply for a building permit, you will have to provide:

1. A duly completed form

2. 2 sets of plans: foundation plan
   • floor plan elevations
   • wall section
     
     

3. A copy of the deed of title

4. A survey plan indicating the boundary of the land

5. A plot plan indicating:
   • lot dimensions
   • yard setbacks
   • casements
   • right-of-way
   • the North
   • power lines
     
     
6. A Health Unit certificate:
