Avonmore Schools

Roxmore Public School

An elementary school providing a comprehensive and well-rounded education from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8. Its name is derived from Roxborough, the name of the former township, which it serves, and Avonmore, the beautiful tree-lined village adjacent to which it is located. Roxmore is situated in a striking rural setting on Fairview Drive just to the west of the village. It's home to a growing number of students (currently approaching 180) from nearby villages and rural areas.

Our Physical Environment

A modern architecturally impressive school blends harmoniously into a traditional rural setting. Its center-piece is a full-size regulation gymnasium, with spacious stage for arts production, modern kitchen facilities and surmounted by a breathtaking vaulted cedar ceiling. This area is surrounded by a myriad of pyramid-crowned classrooms, aesthetically situated to absorb the pastoral Ontario countryside. Notable among these is the Kindergarten wing, uniquely scaled down to accommodate young students and enhance self-reliance. Surrounding the school are natural and spacious playing fields.

Mission Statement

Roxmore Public School promotes a happy, safe environment where individual excellence is demanded and supported by:

  • dedicated professionals
  • involved community partners
  • relevant and challenging curricula
  • positive social values

Code of Behaviour

Roxmore's Code of Behaviour detailed in the Student Handbook is strict, fair and judiciously enforced. It lists expected Behaviour, the reasons underlying these expectations and the consequences of misbehaviour. Roxmore caringly adheres to the S.D. & G. Board's Safe School Policy.
